Is this the worst porch extension ever?

Well, we think it might be! We do know that the lady of the house was less than impressed having returned from a shopping trip to find a timber shed ‘glued and nailed’ to the front of her 18th century farm cottage.

Admittedly the owners are in the middle of a full renovation program and the ‘addition’ was only ever meant to be ‘temporary’, never the less it was removed as quickly as it appeared. Bless

 So, this … Continue Reading

Another Fantastic Customer Endorsement

I live in the small market town of Halesworth, where there are nonetheless no fewer than five Estate Agencies in business.

I came across House Revolution when viewing a Georgian property, I owned a 500 year old small Tudor farmhouse and, when I finally decided to put it on the market, in late Spring 2011, I decided to sell it through House Revolution; as I had been both amused and impressed by their sales technique.

I was subsequently visited by Debby. I lived in a fairly isolated spot, despite being … Continue Reading

Want to sell your home this year?

If you are intending to move home this year, there are a few things that we feel you ought to know. If you’ve been monitoring the press you will have been getting a fairly confusing picture of what the housing marketing is up to – but the reality is that it is very slow.

According to Rightmove, the most important site in house selling, 7 in every 10 homes put on the market in the first 6 months of 2011 are still for sale. We’re sure that other agents will tell you … Continue Reading

Activity in the UK housing market remains flat

Activity in the UK housing market remained flat during July, with house prices slipping further, according to the latest RICS UK Housing Market survey.

Some 22% more chartered surveyors reported that prices fell rather than rose in July. While this represents a slight improvement on June’s net balance of -26, this reading has now remained in negative territory for over a year.

Large deposits required by lenders appear to be a stumbling block for many would-be buyers.

New instructions also fell back in July, with 7% more surveyors reporting falls rather than rises in … Continue Reading

Size Doesn’t Matter

Newspaper advertising for estate agents is a huge cost and many firms splash out large sums each and every week for full page spreads. Vendors expectations then are set very high that big is beautiful and therefore worry that a small advert is underwhelming,

Size and position of adverts all boils down to cost. The more money you spend of course, the bigger the advert and the more often you spend it, the more prominent you will be in … Continue Reading

Estate Agency + Customer Service = A new breed of agent

Why does this winning formula make us better?

Taking the traditional business of estate agency and blending it with modern customer service behaviour provides the optimum estate agency service.

What does that mean in practice? Well as an estate agent you would expect us visit you and provide you with a valuation of your current home, take photographs, prepare your details, market your home on all major property portals and newspapers, organise viewings, obtain feedback, handle offers and price negotiations and then manage the sale process all the way through to the point where you get the keys to your new home.

Add … Continue Reading

There are too many estate agents but I wont be getting my coat !

I’ve just read quite an interesting article that despite being written to highlight the low levels of property transactions this year actually shows, very clearly how estate agents high fees enable them to survive in this troubled market.

The article reported that 650,000 house sales completed in 2010, roughly 54,000 a month. The point of the article was to highlight that this figure was only 6 per cent more than 2009. A very small number indeed.

Anyhooo, when you consider that there are around … Continue Reading

Join the Revolution

These days, most of us use the internet as our first port of call for key information. Who nowadays gets out the yellow pages? No, you ‘Google it’. TV dinners, apparently, no longer exist being replaced by PC dinners. The fact is that we spend a major part of our lives either glued to a PC screen or an iPad or an iPhone. Internet searching is interwoven into our lives and there is no going back.

More than 90% of all property searches are now completed online. Long gone are the days … Continue Reading

Fantastic service review from a recent customer.

I had the initial decision to make as to whether I wanted to go with a traditional high street Estate Agent at a cost of c.£5,000 or to go for something new in House Revolution at a cost of c.£1,000. Well thank goodness I made the best decision and chose House Revolution, who not only met all the standard requirements of your typical Estate agent, they then delivered so much more. The result being that I received a much enhanced service at a fraction of the cost. My comments are based on the experience of having moved several times and … Continue Reading
