I’m really pleased and very very proud to announce that House Revolution has been judged by a panel of business experts as one of the most successful growing companies in the east and as such represents the Future.

This is great news for all our customers as it really demonstrates that the future of estate agency is the House Revolution concept. A concept which disrupts the traditional, expensive, low service high street model by offering great customer service and amazing value for money.

Being part of the ‘Future 50′ (as its known) is a real honour as we join a group of successful and like minded entrepreneurs who challenge and change the norm. Exciting times ahead.

Right then, I have a feeling that this year is going to be a big year for House Revolution. I say feeling … I really mean ’plan’. Yes, I am a man with a plan and if I may be so trumpet blowing (don’t worry, it’s not the Chrismtas sprouts) it’s a quite a cunning plan. It does involve an awful lot of your help this is true but I’m not going to say anymore at this stage. You will just have to wait till a later blog.

It always feels good to have a plan, especially a new and really really good one like mine (that I’m not going to tell you about just yet). It feels good because unlike the tired, old, expensive high street estate agents who to their credit also have plans just tired old expensive ones, mine is about offering great service at the right cost. £999 + VAT to be exact. The high street estate agents’ plan is always the same. Open more offices till we go bust or better still, spent a fortune revamping the old office and then go bust.

In my little town alone 4 different estate agents are opening new offices this month. Recession anyone?

“Why are they doing this” you ask? “Shops cost a lot of money and no one ever goes in an estate agents office to buy a house anymore – they go online. Quite frankly I would like something useful on my high street like a lovely vegetable shop or a really nice shop that sells drum kits”. Sorry that last bit was just me.

Well its simple really, the fees charged are so high they can afford to do so. In summary you pay for it, they do it !

Rather than doing what smart customer friendly businesses do, i.e. find ways to reduce costs to consumers by embracing technology and modern business practice, the old estate agents use old ideas to maintain (sniff) the old days and their justification for having an office is “so we can place your home in our high street window.” Get out of here. Aside from the fact that a tiny tiny proportion of buyers look in a window, if it was genuinely the case tell me why major estate agents are now removing house photos from their windows in favour of big expensive plasma screens used to advertise, ready for this …. themselves!

The truth is it’s a needless and expensive way to market themselves that keeps their fees high!

So get ready for my plan …

I was pacing around the house last night trying to switch of but thinking about work when my daughter asked if I would read her a bedtime story. She finally chose a suitable book (finally = how can i delay my bed time as long as possible having already played the ‘lost tooth brush’ game again. I know …I’ll spend 10 minutes finding a book for daddy to read) was ‘Horton hears a who’ by Dr Seuss
For those of you not in the know it’s all about Horton the Elephant and how he struggles to protect a microscopic community of ‘who’s’ from his neighbors. They refuse to believe the who’s exists and only Horton can hear them on account of his big ears and them being so small. (Better not say to much, don’t want to ruin the story. )

Anyway, it struck me. We at house revolution are all working flat out to try and get message to the UK that for the first time there is a company out there that will work with you to sell your house and charge the right amount for doing it whilst not telling lie’s or talk nonsense as well but boy is it tough

In some respects I think most people really struggle to believe that we will do what it says on our tin. I can’t blame them. Estate agency has such a reputation for telling lies, why should we be any different? Throw in the fact that we only charge such a small fee seems to only add to the problem challange.

But the biggest problem is many people are just not listening to us.

Its a re-education I suppose and will take time. The people who have used us cant stop thanking us and saying they will tell all their friends. I just hope they are all very popular people.

Anyway, we finally got our new home page redesigned last week and live. It looks so much better and has comments from real people who have used us and think we are great. I hope people read them and listen.

Hi There, welcome to my first blog, not quite sure of the netiquette involved so apologise in advance for errors. Be sure to let me know if I’m doing it wrong.
So, why am i writing a blog, i clearly don’t the time. I’m crap on the key board, my spelling is terrible and, well i can be a little lazy at time and put things of to the last minute. Kind of like doing your whole summers home work on the last Sunday of the holidays…while songs of praise was on.. you get the idea!
Anyway, back to the question. Why am i writing a blog?
I am launching a new business and its going to a huge journey for me. Its not not a normal business, its the fulfillment of a mission, an idea a belief.
I have the office, I have the people, i have some money, i have the web site and i have happy customers but, can i do it, can i build a business from nothing. Can i make it a succes?
I may fail or I might succeed, either way this blog will track events as they happen and hopefully prompt feedback, advice and criticism along the way.
So, more to follow. I’ll bring you up to speed in the next blog but for now i need to do some work. Oh, last thing. I haven’t said what he business is. Hummmm lets just say that if a succeed you will never hear and estate agent lie again.
Thanks for reading
Che
