Don’t fear the discount
Normally, being able to buy goods or services at a discount is seen as a good thing. Evidence an electrical store halving the price of a flat screen TV in a sale and watch people fill their cars with them.
Even within the service industry – GoCompare.com and Confused.com make their living being able to find a comparable service at the cheapest cost.
Martin Lewis, the moneysavingexpert.com, created a community of people involved in passing on names of companies where bargains can be had – products or services at vastly reduced costs.
When it comes to estate agent fees the norm doesn’t always seem to apply. In fact sellers can seem apprehensive by lower fees despite the wildly held feeling that estate agents charge too much.
So why is this message so hard to accept? Answer, because you’re not expecting it and therefore regard it with suspicion!
Quite simply the estate agent industry ‘rarely to never’ promote the concept of reduced fees. Survival is dependent on charging a high fee from a small number of sales. A reduction in income would be a disaster so the marketing message is always ‘Sold with waiting buyers- call us now’. This is an important message but a bit silly really. Why would an estate agent exist if it didn’t sell houses ?
House Revolution charge just 0.75% no sale, no fee, no contract. If you’re paying more than that, you’re simply paying too much. We will sell your home as effectively as the next agent, perhaps even more so as many of our happy customers will tell you, and at a cost which is up to half that of a typical high street agent.
In these tough economic times it must make sense to reduce your moving costs.
