Great House Revolution article by regional newspaper

When internet entrepreneur Chris Sargisson decided to sell his house he also decided there should be a cheaper way of doing it.

Four years later his business, House Revolution, employs 10 people and has sold more than £40m worth of property – including his own home.

And now he has his sights set on national growth and £1m turnover in 2012.

Mr Sargisson, whose background is in real estate and online businesses, says House Revolution is simple – by getting the customer more involved in the process through the internet they can see the costs of selling a home and see and control … Continue Reading

La propriété, c’est le vol

Or so said French anarchist Pierre-Joseph Proudhon during the French Revolution in 1840. It roughly translates as ‘Property is Theft’ !

Personally its the Estate Agents commission that is the current ‘Theft’ in property these days and whilst I cant condone vandalism its interesting to see the recent student anarchist taking up our cause ;-)

Have you worked out the VAT ?

January will see the increase of VAT from its current 17.5 % to 20% Eeek! ….VAT of course is felt most on big ticket items, like your estate agency bill.

Did you know that, based on the average house price of £167,000 and by using an average estate agents fee of say 1.5% your total estate agency costs are going to be £2943 and £438 pounds of this cost will be the VAT? This might go a little way to explain why nearly all estate agents quote their costs as a percentage adding “oh, plus VAT” at the end

Come January the … Continue Reading

Recent Q & A with local magazine

An excert from a recent Q & A with local magazine. Quite interesting:

How many staff are currently employed at the company?
We currently employ 11 staff and expect this to increase next year. We’ve taken additional space at our premises in Thorpe Road to enable this expansion to occur.
What was included in the 2009 expansion programme for the business – eg London borough office?
2009 was a particularly difficult year in the property market, and whilst we intended to expand out of the Norfolk area, in practice the conditions did not make economic sense. Therefore we continued to focus on our … Continue Reading

My biggest challenge…

4 years ago I had no option but to pay an estate agent £6000 to sell my house. I simply wanted to understand how my money was going to be spent. No one was able or willing to provide this essential info so I went about building a business that could do the job better, charge the correct fee and allow the consumers to become more involved in whole process.

Today my biggest challenge is not house sales. Whilst the market … Continue Reading

House Revolution can work for everyone…

We’ve had some interesting feedback recently from one of our many happy customers, that when she’s talked about House Revolution to her friends, she didn’t get the response she expected. They said that they know about us, they get what we do, but didn’t think we could help them as their houses were of high value. They seemed to think that House Revolution is only for the cheaper end of the market.

That couldn’t be further from the truth -House Revolution is capable of selling any property and the more your home’s worth, the more you stand to save (compared to … Continue Reading
